My favorite season is Spring

Spring has sprung! I love it for so many reasons. Here’s my love list of what makes me happy in my favorite season…..

  • Longer days, more time to get outside and enjoy the day
  • Lush  bright green grass and blooming  pink, purple and yellow flowers
  • Cherry blossoms and chirping birds
  • Easter, coloring eggs,  an egg hunt with my girls, baskets filled with candy, and pretty Easter dresses
  • French manicure and pedicure, flip flops and sandals
  • Risotto with Asparagus
  • Chardonnay at Sunset by the Bay
  • Gardening, planting flowers that will add a burst of color to the flower pots in my yard, and vegetables that I will harvest and enjoy in the summer.

Do you love the Spring? If you do, why do you love it? Please comment.

Sunday, March 11th – Daylight Saving Time

Daylight Saving Time (United States) begins Sunday, March 11, 2012, 2:00am, and ends Sunday, November 4, 2012, 2:00am.

You know the old saying: spring forward, fall back. It helps us to remember how Daylight Saving Time affects our clocks twice each year.

It’s the perfect way to say good bye to winter and hello to spring and summer!

I LOVE the idea of more time for fun in the evening, and there’s a lot to be said for having light until 10:00 pm in the summer. More time to ride my bike on the boardwalk, evening picnics with my kiddos on the beach, long walks with my favorite sea dog, and night swims in the pool!

Of course, the task of changing all the clocks in your life (home, office, car, etc.) is a real pain, but worth it!

Woo hoo! Bring on Daylight Savings time! I’m ready. I look forward to longer days, warmer temperatures and evenings outside….how about you?

Celebrate Dr. Suess

Happy birthday to Dr Seuss

“Today you are you that is truer than true. There is no one alive who is youer than you.”  ~ ― Dr. Seuss, Happy Birthday to You!

Friday, March 2nd, marks a very important day. It’s the day one of the world’s most acclaimed children’s book authors, Theodor Seuss Geisel, was born. The week following his birthday schools across America will celebrate by reading the many stories written by Dr. Seuss; children love the Dr. Seuss books.

They were the first books my girls learned to read aloud. Sarah’s all-time favorite “Are you My Mother” and Sophie’s “One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish” we read those two books over and over again; I still have these well-read, dog-eared copies. I think reading Dr. Seuss stories to your children is one of the fun parts of being a parent.

Why do we love Dr. Seuss so much?

While we love the colorful characters and tongue-twisting tales that have captured the hearts for generations, I think it’s the timeless wisdom that can be found on each page.

Here’s what I mean:

“A person’s a person, no matter how small.” ― Dr. Seuss, Horton Hears a Who!

“Unless someone like you cares a whole awful lot, nothing is going to get better. It’s not.” ― Dr. Seuss, the Lorax

“Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try!” ― Dr. Seuss

“So be sure when you step, Step with care and great tact. And remember that life’s A Great Balancing Act. And will you succeed? Yes! You will, indeed! (98 and ¾ percent guaranteed) Kid, you’ll move mountains.” ― Dr. Seuss, Oh, The Places You’ll Go!

“You’ll miss the best things if you keep your eyes shut.” ― Dr. Seuss, I Can Read With My Eyes Shut!

“ASAP. Whatever that means. It must mean, ‘Act swiftly awesome pacyderm!” ― Dr. Seuss, Horton Hears a Who!

“Think left and think right and think low and think high. Oh, the thinks you can think up if only you try!” ― Dr. Seuss
